Join The Choir

Interested in Joining? There’s only one requirement: you must love to sing!

We welcome singers of all ages and all skill levels. You don’t need to audition, you don’t need to have sung in a choir before, and you don’t even need to read music! If you can carry a tune and you’re willing to show up, we’ll teach you the rest. Our choir utilizes a special tool called a “learning track” where you can listen to the music on your own with your specific part emphasized in the track – enabling you to learn the music by ear.

What you’re signing up for

  • Wednesday evenings, 7 to 8 PM, at Peace United Church of Christ, 101 4th Street, Tilden. Rehearsals start October 14 and run until the concert.
  • One performance, Sunday December 13 at 6 PM.
  • No cost. Music is provided.

Can’t make every Wednesday?

That’s actually pretty normal — most people miss one or two. Every singer gets access to online learning tracks with your part turned up, so you can practice in the car or at the kitchen sink and come back caught up. We even have a few singers who can’t make it back till college is out for Christmas break! They learn the music on their own with the provided tracks, and join us when they get back to town. There are a few rehearsals near the performance where we learn the staging and practice with the lights, narrators, and actors. Those rehearsals are the key ones you won’t want to miss.

Not a singer?

We’d love to have you anyway. Each cantata has narrators, a few actors, and a tech crew for sound, lights and the YouTube stream — and volunteers who build the staging, pull together costumes, spread the word and welcome the audience. Tell the director what you’d enjoy.

How to start

Just come to the first rehearsal on October 14 — no need to sign up ahead. If you’d like to talk first, or you’re joining mid-season, contact the director. We’ll find you a seat and a folder.
